Holiday Closures The nursery school is closed from December 23 to January 3, inclusive. We wish everyone a happy holiday and safe travels. Classes resume on Monday, January 6, 2020.
Amalgamation with Andrew Fleck Children’s Services (AFCS)
As outlined at our September Parent Orientation Night, Riverside Park Nursery School is amalgamating with AFCS. After Dec. 31, 2019, RPNS will be governed by the AFCS Board of Directors and RPNS will have a Family Council Committee. Family participation is a strong foundation of RPNS, so we will continue to have various sub-committees to ensure our high standards for a quality program.
Due to strong feedback from the RPNS Board of Directors and some of our families regarding the potential loss of our nursery school program in our current space, AFCS has made a commitment to maintain the RPNS program here at the Riverside Churches of Ottawa. Realizing that the new Riverside Park Early Learning Centre may fill quickly with full-time child care spaces, we felt that it was important not to lose our nursery school program. AFCS has also committed to finding a new location in the community for the nursery school to continue.
The amalgamation with AFCS and their commitment to ensuring early learning experiences for the children in this community will certainly mean continued success of RPNS for many more years to come!
Christmas is for Sharing!
Riverside Park & Annavale Nursery School’s ‘Sister’ Program
As part of our community outreach, we have teamed up with a local head start nursery school to make the season cheery for the 24 children of Annavale. We are collecting the following items:
•Children’s Crayons , markers
•Hand soap - pump, children’s bath bubbles or children’s shampoo
Kindly provide only the items listed (no toys please), unwrapped to RPNS by Friday, Dec.13. Place your donations in the box in the hallway near the Communication Table
CANDY for the Gingerbread houses…we could use the following for our Gingerbread House decorating: smarties candies; small pretzels; or any other small holiday candies/chocolates.
The children will be decorating Gingerbread Houses on Dec. 19 and 20. The beautiful masterpieces will be brought to Thorncliffe Place, a retirement residence for residents to enjoy and in memory of Huguette Lacelle (my mom).
CHRISTMAS CONCERTS AND PARTIES
It has been the tradition here at RPNS for the children to sing some holiday songs for their families. The concerts this year will be held on Tuesday, Dec.17 and Wednesday, Dec. 18. All family members are welcome to share in the festivities. Should you be bringing along a child not currently registered at RPNS, kindly let the Director, Paulette, know so she can help Santa’s elves with their lists. All this singing will make us hungry so please sign up on the FOOD LIST posted in the hall and bring in some goodies! NOTE: Before Care will not be available on Dec. 17 & 18 and we will not be playing outdoors those days.
